Clifford was born on July 22, 1955 in Tuscola, IL. He was a son of Melvin J. and Katie W. (Schrock) Kauffman. He married Debra Sue Oye on August 10, 1974 in Arthur, IL.
He is survived by his wife Debby; two children, Kim Weber and her husband Rob of Anchor, IL and Kyle Kauffman and his wife Whitney of Sullivan, IL; seven grandchildren, Ryan, Reed, Katelyn, Colton and Raegan Weber and Sophia and William Kauffman; two brothers, Virgil Kauffman and his wife Sarah, and Larry Kauffman and his wife Delores all of Arthur, IL; three sisters, Dorothy Otto and her husband Paul and Carolyn Kauffman all of Arthur, IL and Sharon Rocke and her husband Larry, of Tuscola, IL and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one nephew, Justin Kauffman, one great-nephew, Tanner Tabb and a special brother-in-law DeWayne Snyder.
Clifford was a member of the Arthur Mennonite Church, the Douglas County Farm Bureau and the American Paint Horse Association.
At the age of 13, Cliff started working at Stutzman’s Feed Mill mixing feed then when he turned 16, he drove a truck delivering bags of feed and later also hauling turkeys at night. As you can see, being a hard worker was instilled in him at a very young age. He continued to work for Stutzman’s for 10 years before he took over the propane business from his father who had been in it for 20 years. Cliff then serviced Arthur and the surrounding areas for over 36 years in his gas truck. Everyone from young to old knew him as “gas man Cliff”! He was so dedicated to his job and gas customers, and held the top sales spot for many years with Okaw Valley Propane delivering more than 1 million gallons of gas per year. He often put in 15-16 hour days in the winter time just in his gas truck. In 1992, Kauffman Brothers incorporated and Cliff and his brothers started farming together and raising and showing draft horses. He loved spending what spare time he had with the horses and farming, and because he didn’t have enough on his plate, he took up hauling horses in the Arthur area and was always available. He took many late-night trips to the University of IL to transport sick horses or made early morning trips to horse sales or farrier appointments. He did not like telling someone “No” so there were many mornings he was up at 3 am just to get the chores done before he started his day. He also enjoyed spending his Sundays in the summer doing tractor drives as Cliff and his brothers have restored 5 antique tractors with another in the works.
Cliff was not only a hard worker, but he was also a Christian and a strong family man. His family meant the world to him and he loved being a Grandpa. His grandkids were about the only thing that could keep him from working as he loved spending precious time with them giving gator rides, swinging them on the swing set he put so much work in to, taking them on stroller rides, and snuggling up at night to put them to bed. Cliff worked so hard to keep his home and everything he owned in meticulous condition. He was the best Grandpa, Dad, Husband, Dedicated Worker, Good Man and Great Friend to many. Cliff will be missed by so many and has left a lasting legacy with everyone he met. His role in the Arthur community will be difficult to fill.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Colton Weber Buddy Walk which provides funding to the local and national Down syndrome organizations or the Arthur Mennonite Church.

Kulp, Isaac
Nov. 8, 1934 - Oct. 22, 2017
GOSHEN - Isaac Kulp, 82, of Goshen, passed away Sunday, Oct. 22, 2017, at Hospice House.
Isaac “Ike” Kulp was born Nov. 8, 1934, to Manasseh and Amanda (Eby) Kulp in Brutus, Michigan, the fourth of eight children.
When Isaac was 7 years old, his family moved to Indiana.
In Michigan, he had been attending kindergarten, but there was no kindergarten in Indiana. However, the first grade teacher accepted him into her class after she asked if he knew his ABCs.
He recited them to her both forward and backward, as fast as he could speak.
During his growing up years, Isaac’s family were farmers.
They also took care of both of his grandfathers in the years before their deaths.
Isaac recalled travelling back to Michigan with his mother on the train at age 13 when his Grandpa Eby passed away.
When he was 18, Isaac moved to Pennsylvania where he met Florence Horst. They were married Feb. 6, 1954. Mary Ann, Virginia, and Elsie were born to them while they lived in Kutztown where Isaac worked as a tomato farmer.
Louella and James were born while they lived in Lancaster County and Isaac worked as a mechanic.
In the spring of 1964, Isaac and Florence and the five children moved to Indiana, where he put his newly purchased bull dozer to work after a few months of farming.
Isaac and his younger brother, Reuben worked for several years cleaning out fence rows with the bulldozer. Sometimes, Isaac would take a few of the children with him to work.
When they used dynamite to blow up stumps along the fence row, he instructed Virginia and Elsie to crouch under the bulldozer bucket for protection while the men set off the dynamite and ran away from the site.
After the Palm Sunday tornado in 1965, Ike used his bulldozer to help with cleanup.
Willie Miller, the owner of Willie’s Construction, saw his name in the newspaper, and hired him to work as an excavator.
In later years, Ike worked for Schrock’s construction as well, for a total of 40 years of excavating.
As his children married and had their own families, the grandchildren loved to take pictures with grandpa on the dozer.
Grandpa had a tradition of passing out small red boxes of raisins when the grandchildren came to visit.
In 2002, Isaac and Florence built a house in Millersburg close to a woods with a pond.
Ike phased out the bulldozer business and started his own wood business.
Isaac loved trees and wood, and could identify the various kinds on sight.
With his sawmill and kiln, Ike started Hobby Shop Hardwoods where he sold all shapes and sizes of wood and boards from a small store close to their pond.
Because of the unique wood he sold, he had customers who drove long distances to visit his shop and purchase one-of-a-kind pieces of wood.
Isaac and Florence lived in Millersburg for 12 years.
Three years ago, Isaac and Florence moved back to the Goshen area.
Isaac resumed his woodworking on a smaller scale, creating step stools, bluebird houses and wren houses which he passed out to his children and grandchildren.
When his lung illness took him to the hospital, Isaac struck up a conversation with his pulmonologist about woodworking.
A few weeks before his death, Isaac sent a bluebird house to the doctor, who received it with gratitude, stating that he believes Isaac was one of his most favorite patients since he began to practice medicine.
After moving back to Goshen, Isaac checked the Amtrak schedule nearly every day.
He and Florence went to Steak ’n Shake to drink their morning coffee and watch the passing of the daily Amtrak trains, one from New York and the other from Pennsylvania.
Isaac is survived by his wife, Florence, children, Mary Ann (Keith) Martin of Sauk Centre, Minnesota, Virginia (LaVerne) Hoover of Elkhart, Louella (Larry) Zimmerman of Elkhart, James (Malinda) Kulp of Unity, Wisconsin, son-in-law, Ray Hoover, as well as 34 grandchildren and 79 great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by a sister, Rachel Newswanger from Pennsylvania, a sister, Mary Ann (David) Newswanger from Missouri, a sister, Lydia (Christian) Weaver from Goshen, and a brother, Reuben (Pauline) Kulp from Stratford, Wisconsin.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Elsie Hoover in 2010 and his granddaughter, Lana Martin in 2015, his parents, brothers Paul and Cyrus and sister Lena.
Visitation will be from 1-4 p.m. and 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24, at the Ramer Building, 24647 C.R. 44, Nappanee.

Kuhns, Harold Daniel, age 91, departed this life to enter the presence of his Lord, on Sunday, February 26, 2017.
The son of the late Samuel and Martha (Horst) Kuhns, Harold grew up in the area around Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. He married the late Vera Mae Martin of Greencastle, Pennsylvania, on March 24, 1945.
He is survived by his children: Dennis (Edith) Kuhns of Harrisonburg, VA; Gloria (John) Swartzendruber of Kingman, AZ; Brenda (Lynn Dale) Maust of Pigeon, MI; Loretta (Phillip) Helmuth of Harrisonburg, VA; Pamela (Phillip) Risser of Greencastle, PA. Harold was preceded in death by his wife, Vera; an infant son, David; a daughter-in-law, Joyce Eberly Kuhns; and his siblings.
Harold grew up on a farm and did turkey and chicken farming. During this time, he took a correspondence course in electronics. He then established a business as a radio and television technician in Greencastle, PA, called “Kuhns Radio and TV Sales and Service.” Harold and Vera ran this business for nearly 30 years until they sold the business in 1980. During his career, Harold obtained a first class broadcasting engineer’s license and helped put five radio stations on the air.
In 1980, Harold and Vera moved to Harrisonburg, VA, where they entered into two years voluntary service with Eastern Mennonite College (now Eastern Mennonite University). Vera served as Campus hostess, keeping a guesthouse where visitors to the campus would stay. Harold worked in the grounds/maintenance department where his electronics background was useful. After their term of voluntary service ended, they remained on staff with EMU until retirement. In his retirement years, Harold volunteered for many years at Gift & Thrift in Harrisonburg, Virginia. He also enjoyed the fellowship he had twice a week with friends in his ROMEO group (ROMEO meaning Retired Old Men Eating Out).
Harold and Vera were always active members of the churches they attended. They were active in the Cedar Grove Mennonite Church, near Greencastle, PA. One of the things Harold especially enjoyed was singing. He participated in an area wide men’s chorus, and sang in the men’s chorus at Cedar Grove. After moving to Harrisonburg, Harold and Vera were active in the Park View Mennonite Church.
Another ministry in which Harold was very active in the early 1960’s was on the board of the newly formed Mason-Dixon Youth for Christ. This ministry supported clubs in the area High Schools and a weekly Saturday youth rally. As a family, we have appreciated the life and witness of our father. May the legacy he left us be a beacon for our own lives.
